eBay - The Giant Marketplace

Today, nearly everyone know eBay. The giant hub of buying and selling on the internet is uniquitous appearing in everything from google searches to forum posts. From it’s birth to its current domination of the collectible and trading markets, the story of eBay is fascinating, instructive, and sometimes…well…questionable.

eBay Inc. is an American Internet company that manages, an on-line auction and shopping website in which people and businesses buy and sell a broad variety of goods and services worldwide. Founded in 1995, eBay is one of the notable success stories of the dot-com bubble; it is now a multi-billion dollar business with operations localized in over thirty countries. eBay expanded from its original “set-time” auction format to include “Buy It Now” standard shopping; shopping by UPC, ISBN, or other kind of SKU (via; on-line classified advertisements (via Kijiji or eBay Classifieds); on-line event ticket trading (via StubHub); on-line money transfers (via PayPal) and other services.
